Everyday, Jack Hertafeld, an enthusiastic freshmen, delivers copies of The Daily to the journalism staff, fresh off of the library copier. Although we all thoroughly enjoy these comics, we are always left wondering how The Daily came to be; and we know we are not the only ones.

The Daily, including a cartoon, a daily fact, and a “stupid funny” is distributed school wide everyday by Hertafeld and several other members of the exclusive Daily team.

“I just really like giving it out to people and seeing them read it and enjoy it; it makes people laugh,’’ Hertafeld said.

The creator Carl, who chooses to keep his full identity a mystery, began by drawing comics on the board of an unnamed class, until his buddies got around to printing and distributing them in October, 2016.

Recently, the Daily team has been a “Double Daily”, where their regular 8’ by 11’ issue has features on both sides.  These special editions used to be only on Fridays, but have now switched to a more unexpected day to continue The Daily’s reputation of spontaneity.

“We decided to do the ‘Double Daily’ random because it keeps everyone on their toes,” Hertafeld said.
