Shoe-shaped hats, men’s heels and fuzzy nails were popular looks on the Paris and New York fashion show runways this year, but they might not be ‘in’ here in mid-Michigan. However, here are some universally appreciated up-and-coming trends for spring.

Half-moon bag

Half-circle purses of various sizes appeared in Michael Kors, Victoria Beckham, Topshop and other fashion shows. Due to how unique and versatile they are, they will be on top of designers’ idea lists this season. From a  little clutch to a big everyday bag, try half-moon shaped..

Light-wash denim

Jeans turned into dresses, cardigans and shirts were seen in the prestigious collections of Gabriela Haerst, Alexander McQueen, Saint Laurent and others in 2016. Light denim fabric is simple and elegant, and the best part about it is that it can be easily dressed up or dressed down.

Cold shoulders

Shoulder cut-outs on shirts and dresses is just a little detail that will make one’s outfit look more feminine in the spring– Rachel Zoe, Derek Lam and Wes Gordon’s models prove it. Loose geometric shapes and floral prints are especially flattering with this trend.

White button-downs

Originally seen  as men’s classic fashion, white button-downs are now loved in the women’s fashion industry as well– and rightfully so! Something in this simple color attracted Zac Posen and Delpozo and they freed their fantasy creating fascinating shirts of various shapes and styles. They are easy to fit in any outfit, regardless if one is hoping to rock street-style or a fancier look.
