Every year various conglomerates get together and create some funny April Fool’s Day pranks such as Burger King’s “Left-Handed Whopper” or BBC’s reduced gravity theory. This year was no different. OHS Press Athletic Liaison, Nick Merrill  selected his three favorite pranks from 2014’ April Fool’s Day.

1. Do not be hassled by the Hoff

David Hasselhoff photobombed every picture uploaded to Google+. The Hoff inserted himself into every photo in various positions effectively photobombing the subjects of each photo.

2. Google Maps has a Wailord of a good time

Google Maps created a trailer saying that aspiring Pokemon Masters could fulfill their dreams by finding various Pokemon around the world with their Maps app. Catching Pokemon involved viewing various places around the world with Pokemon and view them with your phone’s camera. The people who managed to find all  150 Pokemon scattered around the world would be invited to partake in the second stage of interviewing and the winner would become Google’s official “Pokemon Master”. While the Pokemon were not able to be caught out in the real world, Google still scattered various Pokemon around the world to catch on your map by a single tap.

3. “Stoked” for GoPro’s new energy drink

GoPro released a teaser trailer for a new energy drink, “Stoked”, to compete in the ever growing energy drink market. The drink was said to help you “reach maximum radness”. When describing their new drink GoPro said, “”Acai? Yes. Quinoa? Duh. Goji berries? Please. We don’t just use the berries, we grind up the whole plant, berries, roots, leaves, bark, whatever. It’s all in there.” Sound like true energy.
